Marty over at MartyBLOGs kinda went off on a rant about the lack of support for Barack Obama's candidacy for President by "black leaders." Marty went on to point out the reasons behind the civil rights movement and the opportunity to elect a black president of the United States.
I so feel where Marty goes with his point about Barack Obama and the electability issue. That's crap if I ever heard it. It is so frustrating to hear those that supposedly represent us in Washington, use that as a reason for not supporting Obama. The truth of the matter is those folks have either cut a deal with Clinton for an appointment to some position or committee or they are just plain ole afraid to fight the Democrat establishment.
Thank God blacks didn't have to depend on those same folks during the height of the civil rights movement. If there's any wonder as to why racism and noose-hanging is so prevalent now, it may be because of weak, self-serving black leaders. As Marty points out, Obama is the candidate the civil rights movement fought for. He is qualified to be president of the United States. So why aren't black leaders supporting him?
As numbers are reported about Hillary's commanding lead over the other Democratic presidential candidates, I have to wonder if the numbers are legit and if they are, how black leaders can look themselves in the face each morning. As self-serving as some of these folks can be, it's likely they don't want Obama to be the first black president. Yeah, I think there's a bit of jealousy involved. Heck, I think there's a lot of jealousy involved.
Rest assured that the United States government is controlled by a small group of men who cross political party affiliation. Those same men know how to manipulate the vote by manipulating our leaders. All of them. Black and White. The unique opportunity to exercise the democracy our country is supposed to represent is being trashed by black leaders and it's sad. The marches and water hoses and days in jail that folks endured are being trashed by their lack of support for Obama.
Most important, our black leaders send a message to black children that they never really can become president of the United States, no matter how qualified. Go to the "right" schools to get an education and it still doesn't matter. Little black girls and boys can be appointed to positions if they kowtow to the president and the majority party but they can't actually be elected because they will never be seen as anything but a color. That is the message our black leaders send.
We are still many months away from the presidential election. Inarguably, Hillary Clinton is an intelligent woman. Her best campaign tactic is her husband, Bill Clinton and she knows it. Whether she is the Democratic presidential nominee still remains to be seen. I could live with her as president but I must support Barack Obama not just because he's black but because he's the best candidate that happens to be black. It's time for new leadership in the United States and Barack Obama represents new leadership.
For the black leaders that don't support Obama, shame…shame…everybody knows your name.
What say you?

That says it all for me. I am so tired, and I'm not going to just put it on black politicians, so very tired of politiicans doing what they can to stay elected/appointed instead of doing the right thing.

I, quite frankly, am tired of all the hater-ade...notice lately how all of the articles have been kissing Hillary's ass and have basically been doing all they can to ruin or smear or downplay Barack? The one article that I almost threw up over was how "romantic" her husband is...I mean GMAFB! I feel like they are pushing her down my throat...and I don't like it one freaking bit! Stop it with all the bullshit...I think it is cowardly and backstabbing for all of these black leaders to shy away from Barack because they are scared or have been talked into believing that he doesn't have a chance. There are those of us who believe that a change in leadership, a change in the bull that we are used to is due...we are the ones who believe in Barack...even if others believe he isn't electable, those of us who continue to contribute to his campaign, who continue to show up at fundraisers and grass roots meetings and planning sessions, we believe...
